The Washington Campus is a consortium of 16 major university business schools committed to educating graduate business students and corporate executives on the decision-making processes of the U. S. government. Founded in 1978 by visionary leaders in business, government, and higher education, the Campus is a non-partisan, 501[c]3 educational organization. Established as the Washington campus of the member institutions, the consortium is self-sustaining and fulfills its educational mission through tuition- and fee-based courses and seminars as well as through limited fundraising. The Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from each of the member schools as well as at-large members from the business and government community.

Participants attending Washington Campus courses and seminars gain a comprehensive understanding of the interaction of business and government and the importance such understanding has on creating effective business strategy. In addition to its flagship course, "Business and the Public Policy Process: How Washington Works," the Campus designs tailored courses for corporations and universities and presents courses each year in Washington, D.C., for graduate students of the consortium's 16 member business schools.

Since 1978, over 3,400 MBA students from the member schools have enrolled in elective courses for graduate credit and more than 3,300 corporate executives have benefited from its executive seminars on business and public policy.

"Like it or not, the private sector executive may spend one-third or more of his time dealing with the government. In large part, the executive has had to learn this part of his duties by experience, often painful. His principal tutors have been his lawyer, his CPA, his Washington representative and the bureaucracy--each of whom has a different viewpoint from that of corporate management."
