Soraia S. Ghani

Soraia S. Ghani is an Associate Director at the Washington Campus, responsible for the direction and management of the organization’s education programs.

Before joining The Washington Campus, Ms. Ghani served as executive assistant to the Director of Sponsored Research and Programs at The University of the District of Columbia (an Urban Land Grant Institution). 

As executive assistant to Dr. Vijaya L. Melnick, she assisted the University to build and sustain an infrastructure that encouraged greater participation of faculty, staff, and students in sponsored research & programs.

Ms.  Ghani previously interned for Congresswoman Diane E. Watson from California.  In Representative Watson’s Capitol Hill office, she worked on issues including education, national security relating to Afghanistan, and health care. 

Additionally, Ms. Ghani was a volunteer of CARE International in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she gathered primary and secondary research on gender policy issues. 

Ms. Ghani, an Afghan-American, has specified knowledge of Central/South Asia and the Middle East.  She attended The University of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC, where she studied political science and graduated with honors.
