Dr. D. Jeffrey Lenn

D. Jeffrey Lenn is Professor of Strategic Management and Public Policy and Senior Associate Dean in the School of Business and Public Management at George Washington University. He has been on the faculty at Boston College, University of Massachusetts and University of Connecticut. In the fall semester of 1995, he was Fulbright Professor of Management at Peoples University in Beijing, China.

He holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. from Yale University and a Ph.D. from Boston College. His academic honors include being selected as a Benjamin Franklin Scholar at University of Pennsylvania, a University Fellow at Boston College and a Dilthey Fellow at George Washington University.

Dr. Lenn’s courses include strategic management, business-government relations, multinational corporate strategy, organization theory and managerial ethics. He teaches at the masters and doctoral levels. His research in the areas of strategic management, corporate political strategy, issues management, organizational change and business ethics has been published in major management journals and books. He also has extensive experience in writing cases about corporate management.

He served as first Chairman of the newly organized Department of Strategic Management and Public Policy at George Washington University and as a member of the committee to create its first Executive MBA. Dr. Lenn also chaired the Mission Committee and the Reaccreditation Coordinating Committee for the School of Business and Public Management.

He is active in various professional organizations including the Academy of International Business, the Academy of Management, the Eastern Academy of Management, the International Association for Business and Society, and the Society for Values in Higher Education. Dr. Lenn is past president and a Fellow of the Eastern Academy of Management as well as a founder of the International Association for Business and Society. He is past chair of the Social Issues of Management Division of the Academy of Management. He is a member of the editorial boards of The Review of Business and The Journal of Public Affairs and also reviews for a number of management journals.

Dr. Lenn has worked as a consultant for a number of corporations (including Bank of America, General DataComm, IBM, Nestle, New York Life, Student Loan Marketing Association, Samsung, Travelers), trade associations and non-profit organizations (Association of General Contractors, Colonial Williamsburg, Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute, National Association of Realtors, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National YMCA, Radio Free Asia, United Way International), and governmental agencies (U.S. Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, U.S. Postal Service). He has extensive experience in management and executive development programs, both domestic and international.
